Guaranteeing Health Care for All
Health care should be a basic right for every citizen, not just an expensive privilege for the few. Insurance coverage should be affordable for all citizens, especially the most vulnerable members of society. It's a disgrace that today, in the wealthiest country in the world, tens of millions of our people can't afford to see a doctor.

Promoting Public Service
Part of what makes America so strong is the willingness of so many of our citizens to participate in public service. Americans of all ages should be provided every opportunity to serve their community and their country. It's essential that those who are willing, even eager, to serve be given the chance to make a difference in critical on areas of national need, such as health care, education, and energy conservation.

Protecting Our Troops
The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan continue to take a large toll on our budget, on our respect in the world, and most importantly, on the young men and women who serve us all so well. President Obama's withdrawal strategy from Iraq is the correct direction for our military, but as long as our troops remain in danger there, we must make certain they have the best possible equipment to protect their safety.

Rebuilding the Economy
Our nation faces economic challenges not seen since the Great Depression. It's imperative that our economic policies serve not just Wall Street, but Main Street as well. President Obama's plan for job creation and long-term economic growth deserves our strong support.

Strengthening Education
Every American child deserves a world-class education. We must invest more in education in ever stage, from early childhood through elementary and secondary school, college and beyond, including adult education for those who change their careers. No student should be denied a decent education because of cost.

Strengthening Social Security
Social Security is one of the most important and most successful domestic programs in our nation's history. Its most urgent need today is for additional funds to keep it strong. Cutbacks or privatization schemes that reduce benefits are unacceptable.
